In August, Arrive Ministries’ resettlement program received our final refugee arrivals for the 2019 program year. We concluded the year with 104 refugee arrivals from eight countries.
While these numbers are significantly decreased from previous years, we rejoice that God made a way for these families and individuals to come to Minnesota and begin their lives here.
We also rejoice that we, as a nation, are approaching the arrivals ceiling of 30,000 refugees that was instated by our Administration in October of last year.
Will you join us in prayer?
As we anticipate the Presidential Determination on next year’s ceiling for refugee arrivals at the end of September, we ask that you join us in prayer. Will you pray with us that the refugee arrivals ceiling reflects the current worldwide crisis?
In the midst of the current refugee crisis, with more than 25.9 million refugees worldwide, our prayer is that more families and individuals will be resettled.
Our desire is to be obedient to God’s command to welcome the foreigner. We are blessed when we can gather at the airport to welcome a new family. And we love when a Refugee Life Ministries church team or New Neighbor commits to walking alongside families with refugee status through practical support, mutual learning, and friendship. Pray that more church teams will be able to welcome newly-arriving families in 2020 and in the years to come.
Also, Praise God for the connections He is making to families already living in our communities: refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers. We believe that God has brought the nations to our neighborhoods and is continually raising up His church to come alongside them with the love of Christ.
