Hannah Bonifacius has been an ESL instructor for eight years. She discovered a passion for language learning as a teenager, learning Spanish in the home of a Puerto Rican friend in rural Indiana. She has taught English in a variety of contexts, working internationally in Poland, in a rural community college setting in central Illinois, and in the non-profit realm. For the past three years, she has called Chicago home. She resides with her husband in the highly diverse neighborhood of Albany Park, where she happily walks to work at the nearby World Relief Chicago office. While earning her Masters Degree in TESOL at Northeastern Illinois University, she applied her graduate thesis research to the subject of mental health in the ESL classroom. She continues to pore over this subject as it directly relates to the lives of the students in her classroom.
