Or, host a group in your city on Friday Jan. 10, 2020.
SALT (Somali Adult Literacy Training) is launching a 24 hour/7 days a week global prayer initiative for Somalis.
This kick-off event will introduce a worldwide initiative praying for a spiritual awakening for the Somalis around the world.
Small groups all across the globe can sign-up for a weekly one-hour time slot to pray for Somalis. Help us recruit worldwide teams to cover 168 hours a week in prayer and petitioning for an awakening for Somalis near and far.
Help us launch Awaken24 in Minneapolis, or wherever you live, by hosting or joining a prayer meeting on Jan. 10, 2020:
- Host a prayer meeting wherever you live
- Join a prayer meeting in your town (SALT will connect you to your town’s host person.)
*Inspiration for Awaken 24
We are inspired by the prison break story in Acts 12 where a bright light illuminated Peter’s prison cell as he was awakend by the angel. His chains fell off and he walked out past the guards, and through an iron gate that “opened by itself.”
We are praying for the light of the Gospel to shine brightly to awaken Somalis to the truth they already know, that Jesus is the Messiah, and the Injeel or Evangel (Gospel) is a generous invitation to join his Kingdom. We pray they will be freed from the prison of deception, such as the lie that Jesus did not really die on the cross, and freedom from fear of the threat of death against Muslims who choose to follow Jesus.
We chose the name Awaken24, to remind us of Jesus’ promise in Matthew 24, “This gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole world, as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (24:14). We believe Awaken24 is a crucial priority for the Kingdom of God, starting in 2020, as we launch a 24-7 global network praying for spiritual awakening for Somalis in Minnesota and around the world.
We are reaching out to discover how many groups are already praying weekly, and to mobilize others to fill in the gaps until there are at least 168 (24×7) weekly prayer groups in the world.
