Ever since Arrive Ministries staff met a young Somali man, he has expressed his dream of moving to the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood to be near his community. The young man arrived knowing only one family member, who is often out of the state. Living with a disability makes cooking for himself a struggle.
In April, he was approved for government housing in the Cedar-Riverside apartments. When the case manager visited him in his new apartment, she asked him how everything was going with grocery shopping and finding meals to eat. He said, “Easy!” and pointed out the window of his apartment. Sure enough, the window had a perfect view of the many East African restaurants and grocery stores right outside his front door.
This young man signed up for English class during his first week in the new apartment, which is held in his apartment complex. This answered prayer for housing has brought this young man so much joy and will lead to an easier adjustment to Minnesota.
