“I missed them, we would talk on the phone or Facetime. I always hoped they would be able to join me in MN. I am happy to have my entire family together,” said Aye.
Aye and her brother and sister had been separated from their father, mother, and brother for over 3 years.
The family of 6 was last together in the Mae La refugee camp in Thailand, but on Thursday they were finally reunified at the MSP airport, during one of Arrive Ministries’ few resettlement cases this fall.
“I missed them, we would talk on the phone or Facetime. I always hoped they would be able to join me in MN. I am happy to have my entire family together,” said Aye.
Aye, who is 23 years old, is studying to get her High School diploma at CAP School in St. Paul. She has been in Minnesota for 3 years, and works part-time as a Personal Care Attendant (PCA).
The family will live in St. Paul as they adjust to their first winter together in Minnesota.
A Refugee Life Ministries team from Beacon of Hope Church in St. Paul was matched with the family, and met them at the airport.
This team will walk alongside the Karen refugee family of 6 with the love of Christ, as they build genuine friendships, and assist with practical needs.
